We are proud to announce our newest program...

Alexandria's Nature Bus
Connecting Children to Nature

  Presented by
The Spirit of Alexandria Foundation
and the
Howell Conference and Nature Center

The Spirit of Alexandria Foundation was created to carry on the legacy of Alexandria Bennett, a little girl whose passion for nature was evident to everyone around her. Through this Foundation, it is her family and friends mission to help children experience nature and all its wonderment.

Howell Nature Center Naturalist, Brandon Deane, with Barred Owl

Featuring
Live Falcons, Hawks, Owls & More
Fun Interactive Games & Activities
Trained Howell Nature Center Naturalists

Alexandria's Nature Bus will arrive at a school. The two to
three naturalists that will accompany the bus will have hands-on
theme based activities for half the class to learn from on-board the bus, while the other half will be educated by live animals
that the handlers will share. When finished, groups will
then switch places.

The Nature Bus is will be used as a tool to bring nature to
kids in hopes of teaching them about the world around them
and how to protect it now and for the future.

The Spirit of Alexandria Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization created by her family and friends to help fund projects and programs that bring kids to nature. The Foundation relies upon the generous support of private citizens, foundations and corporations to help achieve its goal. Starting in the fall of 2009, The Spirit of Alexandria Foundation will start to award grants to schools for classroom field trips to the Howell Conference & Nature Center or a visit by Alexandria's Nature Bus. For teachers and parents interested in applying,
visit the foundation's website

What our customers say!

Kathy did a great job! She was relaxed, informative and interactive. As an interpreter myself, I was impressed! I liked the emphasis of wild animals as not pets, life history and more details about how the animals came to be in captivity. I can't wait to book another program. Fantastic Show!"                 Pine River Nature Center
