Teaching proper stewardship of God's natural world
remains a very high priority. Offering Environmental
Education Programs for children and adults,
providing information to those who call for wildlife
advice and demonstrating care and stewardship by
rehabilitating approximately 2300 birds and mammals each year,
this mission is carried out.
The Howell Nature Center
consists of seven lodges with overnight
accommodations, miles of walking trails, a Wildlife
Infirmary, nearly 70 environmental educations
classes, high ropes courses, climbing towers, and
zip lines, a beautiful lake for boating, swimming
and fishing, a Heifer Global Village, Native
American structures, and just about everything your
group needs to carryout a wonderful retreat, school
camp, or day excursion.
Wild Wonders
Wildlife Park
On site is the beautiful Wild Wonders Wildlife Park.
This park is home to over 30 species of Michigan
wildlife. These majestic creatures are living in
natural habitat enclosures that closely replicate
where they would live if free. All being permanently
injured, the creatures are given a home in the
Wildlife Park where they help teach visitors to
appreciate and care for their natural environment.
Wild Wonders is open daily between 9:00 and 4:00
daily. Visitors should stop in the office to receive
a guiding map and to make a suggested donation of $4
for adults and $2 for children under 12. These funds
help to defray the cost of food and medical
supplies. |
